We have the honor of listening to Jorge Regueira, a plastic artist who fuses calligraphy with painting.
Read below a transcription of the interview:
Hello my name is Jorge Regueira I am a plastic artist and as such my work is based on constant experimentation, on a permanent escape from my comfort zone and doubly so because I am a convinced autodidact.
In my work I explore the expressive possibilities of the written stroke because I believe that it enriches the meaning(s) of the pictorial plane universe, it brings new meanings.
When I was very young my father gave me a set of fountain pens for calligraphy, they have a beveled nib with various sizes and that is how this relationship was born, like all of them, because you go deepening, evolving, exploring, exploring, by the way, that fountain pen I still keep and use and it was the first of many that would come later.
In my case they are quite friendly that yes I convert the letter the word in a simple or pure stroke the sign expression logically maintains a semantic a narrative but it is total and purely visual but the truth is that it is worth for both things that happens to make strokes with the pen on canvas or board plus the textures that I can put it is not the most suitable for fountain pen the nib because it is suffering too much, sometimes I use it of course what I do, s that of course as a writing tool is unique pen, has, has magic personality, charm, glamor, is special.
In general I'm not a fan of brands, besides you have to take into account that within each brand there are differences between models.
Well, I have Parker Scheaffer, Cross, Montblanc from a Spanish to a Chinese and I have some pen of unknown brand, economic brands that goes surprisingly but like everything in this life what matters is to find what you really feel comfortable with, in that aspect I can consider myself lucky, I found the art and I found the fountain pens.
