Did you know that Sinn has developed its own technologies?
Welcome back to the Iguana Sell channel. Today, we're going to talk about a technology that has completely amazed me, but we can't discuss this technology without first talking about the brand that has created it. This is Sinn. Sinn was founded in 1961 by Helmut Sinn. Initially, they made watches for aviation, pilot chronographs, but since 1994, when they acquired the company Lother Smith, they started manufacturing technological innovations that we now know. Today, Sinn has its own technologies but doesn't neglect design. In fact, they have received numerous awards because they blend practicality with the design and functionality of all their products.
Sinn has become a standard in German watchmaking, especially because specialized units, such as firefighters in Germany, have needed their advanced technologies to create specialized products exclusively for them. Additionally, as a characteristic, all their watches are handcrafted by an incredible group of master watchmakers. And today, in particular, we are going to explore the TEGIMENT technology that has left me speechless. This technology significantly increases the hardness level of the base material, for example, stainless steel.
This technology was first introduced in the 756 Duo chronograph at the International Watch and Jewelry Show in Basel in 2003 because it replaced the ice-hardening technique for nickel-free watch cases, which was first introduced in 2002. Originally, the TEGIMENT technology was used in stainless steel cases, but now the term is used to refer to any material with a hardened surface. The technology provides scratch protection unlike what we are used to. It's not a coating, but rather a part of the material itself, and it can even resist scratches from a knife.
Furthermore, Sinn only uses hard coatings like PVD on their TEGIMENT surface. This ensures that the PVD coating doesn't peel off from the entire watch case. Additionally, you have the option to use this technology on some bracelets to enhance the overall hardness of the watch.
