Vostok Europe Nuclear Submarine SSN 571 Automatic Watch with Green Dial.
The Nuclear Submarine line honors the USS Nautilus, SSN 571, the first operational nuclear-powered submarine. On August 3, 1958, it became the first submarine to cross the North Pole submerged. On the SSN 571, 12 tritium tubes set vertically in reflectors illuminate the dial, with 3 more in the hands.
The stainless steel 316L case is 45.7 mm in diameter and 15.6 mm thick. The Japanese-made TMI NH35 automatic caliber, with a power reserve of 41 hours when fully wound, powers the hours, minutes, seconds, and date, with hacking seconds and manual winding. A K1 crystal with anti-reflective coating covers the dial. The crown and solid case back screw down, and the case back bears a 3D image.
The green dial sits in a case finished in black PVD with a stonewashed finish. The watch includes a leather strap and a silicone strap, measuring 22 mm at the lugs. A small coin is all that is needed to change them.

What does SSN 571 refer to?
The USS Nautilus, the first operational nuclear-powered submarine and the first to complete a submerged transit of the North Pole, on August 3, 1958. Nuclear propulsion let her stay at sea far longer than the diesel-electric submarines of her time. Vostok Europe has built its watches in Vilnius, Lithuania, since August 2003, using Russian movements until 2014 and Japanese movements since.
How do the tritium tubes work?
Each marker is a sealed glass tube in which tritium gas makes a luminescent coating glow continuously without charging. This model carries 12 on the dial and 3 in the hands. The Trigalight tubes are made in Switzerland by MB-microtec, a Vostok Europe supplier since 2009. After about 10 years, their brightness settles at approximately 50 percent.
What is K1 crystal?
A synthetic crystal that combines the shock resistance of hardened mineral glass with scratch resistance close to that of sapphire. On these cases, it has an anti-reflective coating to improve readability.
How does the case size affect the fit on the wrist?
The distance between the lugs is 56.2 mm. That span across the top of the wrist matters more for fit than the 45.7 mm case diameter.
Who makes the movement?
Time Module Inc. in Japan, abbreviated as TMI in the reference. Vostok Europe used Russian movements until 2014 and Japanese suppliers since, so the case is assembled in Lithuania around a Japanese automatic caliber.
