U-Boat Sommerso Damascus Automatic Watch with Black Dial.
The Classico collection traces its origins to the diving watch Ilvo Fontana designed in 1942 for the Italian naval forces, retaining the left-side crown featured in the original design. The 46 mm case and case back are forged from Damascus steel, whose folded layers create a pattern unique to each piece.
A Swiss SW 200 automatic movement powers the hours, minutes, seconds, date, and 24-hour indication beneath a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment. The crown screws down beneath a patented protector on the left, while the case back is secured by six screws.
The black three-level dial features a visible ruby, brushed metal numerals, and raised indices. The hands, numerals, and indices are treated with beige Super-LumiNova for legibility in low-light conditions. The ultra-resistant vulcanized rubber strap features the embossed U-Boat logo and is secured by a Damascus steel pin buckle.

Where does the U-Boat design come from?
The design traces its origins to a drawing Ilvo Fontana made in 1942 for the Italian naval forces, a diving watch that remained on paper. His grandson, Italo Fontana, revived the design in Lucca and founded U-Boat around its proportions and distinctive left-side crown.
What is Damascus steel?
Damascus steel is folded and forge-welded in alternating layers, then etched to reveal the boundaries between them as a grain. Because the pattern results from the forging process itself, each piece has its own individual grain.
How does a 46 mm case sit on the wrist?
It is a large watch. Compare the 46 mm diameter with a watch you already own before ordering, because the diameter determines the fit and is the measurement that photographs flatten. A loose cuff will fit over it.
Who makes the movement?
Sellita, a Swiss movement manufacturer. It supplies calibers to many brands under their own names, allowing a watch assembled in Tuscany to combine Swiss movement engineering with an Italian case.
